i'd like to have a discussion on how to navigate information on the interwebs. any takers?
i find it a little overwhelming to take it all in. i feel like i'm missing things, like for instance, i know there were a bunch of posts on the ning in the past few days that i haven't had a chance to read.
also, can you set the blog to tell you that people posted comments? it's easy for me to stay up on a virtual conversation when i get emails on my phone from facebook that tell me what is being said. on the other hand when i get an email from the ning (which is never consistent) i know there's this conversation happening, but i can't read it without logging in which is too much of a process when i'm on my phone on the go.
as well, i'll be on a network (say facebook or the ning) and i'll get a blip of a topic or news piece that i want to read more about; however, for times sake and to stay on task (trying to avoid distraction of my purpose at hand) i'll continue on, making a mental note (we know those don't work) and then i'll forget to go back to it later.
i feel like i need to go run around the block for some fresh air. my eyeballs hurt, as well as my shoulders, and back. i'm getting old.

Yeah, you can adjust your blog to notify you to approve comments, before they just go up. I like to use Google Reader to follow a bunch of blogs. As far as ning and iPhone, it's just annoying and the responsibility of ning developers to streamline it. Maybe to start a log of places you want to go back to, start a specific bookmark folder on your computer or delicious account and just start dumping urls. Just my 2 cents...
ReplyDeleteit's one of the beauties and difficulties of technology. as more and more becomes available, it's harder and harder to get things to work together and work for your life. there's almost always a way to get things to work the way you want them (see miguel's comment about blogs). i'd suggest when you do run into problems surfing some of the message boards for whatever it is you're looking to solve. usually someone else has already encountered the problem you're having, and more often than not, has developed a solution.,
